I'm Having a Chloe Moment - Mary Jane Wedges

I always seem to be late in following trends - right now I am having a 'Chloe Spring 2006'. I really like some pieces in Phoebe Philo's collection - one is a bib-front top and the other a mini dress with embrodered appliques. I'm really digging the shoes - I guess wedges are the way to go. Since I can't afford the Chloe paddingtons, I got some suede wedges from Jeffrey Campbell. They would look great with a mini dress. Hopefully I can find a cute one so I can wear it with my wedges!

Here's this week's shoe deal - pretty little velvet ballet flats for $14.99 at Urban Outfitters. Goody.

The pair that got away

I used to own a pair of these cute Chanel flats in black. Unfortunately I got them in a size too small, so I only wore them once - I may have damaged my feet in the process. I never wore them again, but I kept them in my closet for two years until I decided I had to let them go. (Hopefully they found their way to someone who loves them as much as I did.) To this day I am still looking for them on eBay. From time to time a pair would pop up, but not in the right size. The thing I love about this particular pair is the unusually round toe. No one else seems to be able to capture that adorable shape. I guess I will have to keep searching for that one pair that got away.

Be My Valentine

I found something sexy to wear on Valentine's Day - these lovely Valentine ballet flats from London Sole. I know when you think of "sexy" shoes, you automatically think stiletto - ballet flats really say "sweet-like-the-girl-next-door" more than the "grrr-let-me-rip-your-clothes-off" purring from say, a red high-heel. But these flats have just the right amount of toe-cleavage to pull it off. When I look at it I hear an "ooh-la-la!" in a very sexy French accent much like that of the feather duster in Beauty and the Beast. I love them in black leather with a black velvet ribbon. (This color apparently is not available on the site but I did see them on eBay.)

Flat Footed

I love shoes, but unfortunately, I can only wear flats, since I am "stiletto-challenged" - I can barely stand in heels. (I really think I need a crash-course from Miss J. Alexander). I was always on the lookout for flats that were chic. And until this season, where flats are all the rage, it was hard to find fashionable flats, much less fashionable flat boots. I freeze my toes off in winter wearing ballet flats since I couldn't find any flat boots that I really like. So it's a welcome surprise when I find my dream boots in this January's issue of Lucky Magazine. This one is called the Flip Boot from Lolly by Reincarnation. One thing I love about this boot is that it is so versatile - you can switch from a knee-high boot to an ankle boot by simply folding it over. (How come nobody thought of this before?) It also comes with laces that you can use to change from a straight knee-high to a pirate boot like Vivienne Westwood's. The only downside? The price - a whopping 625 Jr. Bacon Cheesburgers! Sigh.

CindeRielah

Welcome to my new blog. I got inspired by one of my favorite websites, thecarrotbox.com - Alice's idea of blogging about her collection of rings is brilliant. I realized then that I should blog about something I really love - shoes! My husband told me once that he was shocked at how many pairs of shoes I have. He laughingly asked, "Is this a Filipino thing, this love of shoes?" He is referring to the fact that Imelda Marcos, a former First Lady of the Philippines, is, according to BBC News, the world's best known shoe collector. I told him, "No, It's a GIRL thing." Still, he might be on to something - maybe I do have an Imeldific addiction to shoes. So, here we are - a site devoted to shoes. I called it The Glass Slipper, because, like Cinderella, I'd like to think that my dream shoes are out there. And this blog is a chronicle of that perennial search for my glass slipper.
